When it comes to the Big Two, it sometimes seems as though their film ambitions supersede what takes place in the books. There are countless instances of both comics companies altering characters entirely to better reflect their film counterparts, and in the case of Marvel, eliminating entire characters from their lineup due to rights issues in the film world (like the Fantastic Four). Do the comics simply exist to set up stories for the films and act as "take home material" for filmgoers, or is the big two's actions a way to piggyback off of the film's successes to attract more readers?
